2. “BŪKIME KARTU” - is one of the biggest volunteering events in Lithuania initiated by VILNIUS INTERNATIONAL CLUB. Every year since 2001 it takes place in a beautiful area in the forest near Vilnius where around 100 less fortunate children gather from various orphanages and other institutions to spend an unforgettable day of their lives.

For some people, one Saturday in May is just a casual day, while there are some little ones impatiently waiting with a hope in their eyes for this day to come all year long… And it is not just a simple day – it is the day when these children get the opportunity to do the things they have only been dreaming of!

7. Thanks to our kind sponsors, in previous years kids got a chance to meet famous basketball players like Jonas Valančiūnas, football players, various ambassadors, etc. It is not about the charity itself but rather the kind will to make these children feel important to someone and spend some quality time together. During the day, children get to explore the equipment of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the Police, Fire Brigade, watch the Customs’ dogs show, play various games, enjoy plenty of ice-cream and barbecue! And there is so much more!

8. Every year we have an Embassy as Patron of the event that accepts to be the host of “Būkime Kartu”. In 2014, we were honored to have the Embassy of France as the Patron. This year we have the great pleasure of having the Embassy of Italy be the honored Patron! In past years these Embassies have also been Patrons Austria Great Britain Hungary Japan Norway United States of America In addition, every year “Būkime Kartu” is supported by many Embassies
