2 Bioluminescence Symbiosis of Bacteria & Animals
What is bioluminescence? What is symbiosis? Examples of bioluminescence and symbiosis: Flashlight Fish Pinecone Fish Lanternfish A Flashlight Fish

3 Bioremediation Bioremediation-the use of living organisms, usually prokaryotes, fungi, or plants, to detoxify polluted ecosystems. Example: Lichen Part of an oil spill Bioremediation is also used in oil spills.

4 Methanogens/Ruminants
What is a Methanogen? What is a Ruminant? The average cow emits around 250 liters of methane and CO2  per day because of the bacteria digesting cellulose in the rumen. Examples: goats mainly herbivores A Ruminant

5 Video and Review Questions
What is symbiosis? Can you name an example of bioluminescence? Describe a Methanogen. Name an example of bioremediation. What organisms are commonly used in bioremediation? In which part of a ruminant do microbes exist?  What is a lichen?

6 Any Questions?
