4 Purpose of ProAlarm ProAlarm is used to Supervise the following alarms Traffic (Q752) Qos (ProTraq) SS7 links (transmission, multiplexing) System errors Tekelec software errors CPU and disk usage on Tekelec equipment Manage those alarms Acknowledge Terminate An alarm is started or stopped by an event Training documentation ‘06 | 4 Notes 4

5 Purpose of ProAlarm ProAlarm is divided into 2 parts ProAlarm Configuration is the application used to supervise the alarms Define and design objects to supervise Customizable to your needs The user needs to be granted at least with a Configuration Manager profile ProAlarm Viewer is the application used to manage those alarms Display objects in alarm Acknowledge and terminate alarms The user needs to be granted at least with a Business Power User profile to manage the alarms Training documentation ‘06 | 5 Notes 5

8 ProAlarm Configuration ProAlarm Configuration is used to Design maps Put objects to supervise on created map Objects can be System equipments (IXP, PMF, IMF …) or SS7 Network elements or ProTraq elements Object are displayed with graphical icons Create aggregates (several objects included into one global object) Customize the objects representations Customize the alarm representation if needed Training documentation ‘06 | 8 Notes 8

12 Main Windows The screen is divided into 3 main areas Map area (1) The work zone Used to create and modify maps Used to design the objects on the different maps Objects Browser (2) Tree-structured list Used to manage and handle objects Parameters display (3) Used to display details about objects (selected in Objects Browser) Used to set user-changeable parameters Training documentation ‘06 | 12 Notes 12

13 Map area This area is used to draw for example a schematic representation of your SS7 Network. This is customizable according to your needs Composed by : A wallpaper (basemap) Objects over this wallpaper Each tab corresponds to one Map Active Map Training documentation ‘06 | 13 Notes 13

14 Objects Browser It allows to handle the various categories of objects: Objects added into ProAlarm Database via the NSP configuration Managed objects (examples)  IMF, PMF or IXP  Message Switch, ICP and DS  ProTraq objects Network Topology objects  List update automatically based on IMF/MSW configuration Objects usefull to design maps These objects can be customized Aggregates  One single graphical object containing reference of several objects Resources  Basemap: background pictures for maps  Icons: to display objects  Sounds: to be played according to alarms severity all the available objects to be used on maps in order to supervise them Training documentation ‘06 | 14 Notes 14

15 Objects Browser It allows to handle the various categories of objects: Maps: Folder containing the list and the content of all designed maps Unmapped objects Contains the list of all objects present in ProAlarm Database but not displayed on any map Training documentation ‘06 | 15 Notes 15

18 Parameters display Managed Objects folder This folder contains all kinds of objects managed by the NSP which are able to send alarms Manually positioned on maps E.g. for the ProTraq objects All the cells are displayed in the Parameter display area  Only cells with defined thresholds are displayed Each cell is one object and can be displayed on a map Possibility to create ProTraq Aggregate to group several cells in a single object Training documentation ‘06 | 18 Notes 18
