5 TODAY PMT function. TODAY Freeze rows, columns and panes. Pivot tables. Pivot charts. Create 3d formulas. 5

6 PMT FUNCTION PMT function: you can calculate the monthly loan payment using this formula. PMT(rate, nper, pv) –Rate: per month (usually). –Nper: number of months (usually). –Pv: Amount borrowed. 6

7 DATE FUNCTIONS “=TODAY()”: This function will tell you today’s date. “=NOW()”: This function will tell you today’s date and time. 7

8 FREEZE CELLS IN EXCEL Why do we need freezing cells(rows, column, panes). Really useful while scrolling through lot of data (when tables/data spans across width/length of your monitor). 8

9 FREEZE CELLS IN EXCEL Freeze row. (top visible row on your screen is frozen). Directions: –Make sure you have the required row as the top row on the screen (adjust by scrolling). –Go to View tab -> Freeze panes->top Row. 9

10 FREEZE CELLS IN EXCEL Freeze column. (left most visible column on your screen is frozen). Directions: –Make sure you have the required column as the top row on the screen (adjust by scrolling). –Go to View tab -> Freeze panes->top Column. 10

11 FREEZE CELLS IN EXCEL Freeze panes: It will let you freeze series of continuous rows and columns. After this, they are visible throughout the document. Directions: –Make sure you have the required cell select using your mouse. –Go to View tab -> Freeze panes->Freeze panes. 11

12 PIVOT CHARTS/TABLES Pivot tables and Pivot charts let you quickly insert tables and chart into the given data. You can quickly add or remove data points to see the changes/effect of those data points on the chart. Data on axes/categories represent X axis in the chart. Data on “values” represent the Y axis in the chart. 12

13 PIVOT CHARTS/TABLES To insert Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts: –select the data (range of the data using your mouse). –Go to Insert tab -> Pivot Chart>Pivot Chart and Pivot Table. 13

14 3D FORMULAS Simple formulas are usually referred within the current sheet. Simple Formulas that span across worksheets. For a given formula, try to select cells across worksheets. 14

15 FINISH TODAY’S CLASSWORK Download file and finish instructions. Don’t submit this file. Sign on the sheet after showing it to the instructor. 15
