1 The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender. Vince Lombardi

2 1. What does this mean? If you put your blood, sweat, and tears into something, it would be very difficult to let it go. You would fight for it at all cost because you would see great value in it. It would be like losing apart of who you are. It would be more painful to give it up than to fight for it. The opposite of that would be that if you put nothing into it, it would not be difficult to lose. It would mean nothing to you and would cost you nothing. You would not care and it would show.

3 2. Struggles strengthen a person’s resolve. Adversity fosters commitment, and commitment fosters hard work. People don’t really know whether they are committed to something until they face adversity.- explain Until you face a difficult obstacle in your life, you don’t know how you will respond. Struggles can build character if we let them. Tough times can give you the opportunity to develop a will to never give up. However, adversity can also show our weaknesses. Examples could be: a husband who decides to leave his wife when times get hard, a team that quits when they are down, or a friend cuts you loose when it benefits the friend. Don’t let obstacles stand in your way. Live through them.

4 3. How can we apply this to what we do in the weight room or practice field? If you are going to do it, do it right! Invest your life and all your resolve. If you are not willing to sacrifice your blood, sweat, and tears, you will not reap the rewards. Anyone can go through the motions of the weight room and practice field. How you respond to getting beat is a reflection of how much you have personally invested. Actions speak louder than words.
