Central Okanagan Family Hub - Pearson By: Laura Campbell, Maritza De Alba & Jasmine Johaneson UBCO 4 th Year Nursing Students

Our Goals  To find out what parents and other community members want from the Central Okanagan Family Hub  To raise awareness about the Central Okanagan Family Hub in the Rutland area and get a conversation started within the community.  To promote community spirit and inclusivity within the community, which will be a continual process until the Hub opens http://www.gmtraining.ie/goal%20setting.html http://www.hiresmarthr.com/?page_id=7734

Our Process  Attended the Central Okanagan Family Hub Committee meeting and received input on how to reach out to the families  Attended several PAC meetings and various other meetings  Created a Facebook page  Created a survey  Created a survey QR code card  Involvement with parents and family hub committee

What we have heard about the Hub from parents…  Excited about the COFH and its potential  Looking forward to a “one-stop shop”  Had many questions:  Would it be free?  Who would run the Hub?  What would it include?  Is it for families only?  Do I need to have children to access Hub?

Our Recommendations -Open-ended question styles were not as effective  focus groups or consultation may have been better -Give a list of possibilities -Having more concrete information to share with the public (i.e. location, when it is opening, etc.) -Mama’s for Mama’s would have been a good group to connect with -Try to go to more public areas to access the target population

Thank You!
