 S3CS3. b. I can use computers for observing, measuring, and using objects in science activities to get information.  S3CS5. d. I can communicate scientific ideas and activities clearly and find information in reference books and on computers.  S3E1. b. I can explore the physical features of rocks, observing shape, color, and texture, and hardness.  ELAGSE3W2: I can write informative texts to explain a topic and share ideas and information clearly.  ELAGSE3W6: I can use technology to produce and publish writing (using keyboarding skills) as well as to interact and collaborate with others.  ELAGSE3W7: I can do a short research project that builds knowledge about a topic.  ELAGSE3W8: I can recall information from experience or gather information from print and digital sources.  ELAGSE3SL4: I can report on a topic with appropriate facts and relevant details.  ELAGSE3SL5: I can create engaging audio recordings poems that demonstrate fluid reading at an understandable pace; add visuals when needed to show certain facts and details.

 Some rocks are made from mineral.  They can be used for jewery, magnets and other things.  They are found all around the world.  The types of rocks are sedimentary, metamorphic, and Igneous.

 Sedimentary rocks are formed by sediment that is deposited over time, usually as layers at the bottom of lakes, oceans, and rivers.  This rock is made when materials settle into layers and get squeezed until they harden into rock.  I know three different types Sandstone, Limestone, and Breccia.

 Sandstone Shale Rock Gypsum Oil Shale Rock salt

Where is this rock found? This sandstone rock is formed on the beaches sand, the ocean floor, in the riverbeds, or in sand dunes. How would you describe this sedimentary rock?

Where is this rock found? How would you describe this sedimentary rock? Limestone is composed of the mineral calcite, may contain marine fossils; formed by precipitation from water

Where is this rock found? How would you describe this sedimentary rock? Clastic sedimentary rocks are named according to the grain size of the sediment particles

 Metamorphic rocks can be formed by pressure deep under the Earth's surface  From the extreme heat caused by magma  By the intense collisions and friction of tectonic plates.  A metamorphic rock is a result of a transformation of a pr  The original rock is subjected to very high heat and pressure, which cause obvious physical and/or chemical changes

SLATE Ruby

Slate is found in worldwide, significant slate occurrences are found in whales,Egland,Itly,Portugal,Germany, Braziland china. Production of slate in china for export throughout the world is growing rapidly each year. How would you describe this metamorphic rock?

Quartzite is a metamorphic rock formed when quartz-rich sandstone or chert has been exposed to high temperatures and pressures. Such conditions fuse the quartz grains together forming a dense, hard, equigranular r How would you describe this metamorphic rock?

Before the 18th century, schist, shale, and slate were used interchangeably to describe the same rock. There are various features that distinguish schist rocks made from sedimentary rocks or those made from igneous. Schist can be found in many countries including Brazil, parts of the US and Ireland. How would you describe this metamorphic rock?

How are Igneous rocks made?  Igneous rocks are made by hot lava, when it cold down over hundreds and thousands of years. Then it herding then it turn to Igneous rock, then it cold.  Then it go under grade.then a few years go by and it hardening.then scientist found them under ground.  Did you now that some igneous rock are found by volcano

Obsidan Obsidian

How would you describe this i gneous rock?

The obsidian is found in the united states and greece.

Rocks can synergize...So can we!
