3 Group Roles Executive Branch - Enforces decisions made by the group Legislative Branch - Leads discussions and makes sure everyone is involved in decision making Judicial Branch - Settles disputes within the group by deciding which conflicting idea targets the group goal Cabinet - The cabinet is a group of advisors, each with an area of expertise, who advise the executive branch. All group members are part of the cabinet.

4 Why Study History? Studying history is necessary to understanding ourselves and how the society we live in came to be. History is a discipline of assessing evidence of the past as well analyzing different historical interpretations. We must understand the changes and problems that not only shape modern society, but also our social well-being. Furthermore, George Santayana asserts that “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” In a sense, studying history is to avoid repeating past mistakes. We might even argue that studying history is crucial for replicating past success.

5 Mission #1 Research and take notes of your topic in depth. To help you dig deeper, use the elements of literature to help you tell your story. Include cause and effect Include point of view from both patriots and loyalists You have 20 minutes Elements of Literature Plot-the why things happened Setting- total environment for the event (mood, year, place,location) Conflict- what’s the problem Characters- motivation and point of view for both sides

6 MISSION # 2 Create a visual that explains your topic from both the patriot and loyalist side and explains your topic for an exhibit in a class gallery crawl Format may include but not limited to a cartoon, advertisement, informational poster, news paper, tweet feed, face book page

7 MISSION #3 Using information gathered begin to create a visual performance to enact/explain your topic(2 minute max) Include cause and effect for both sides Format may include but not limited to mock debate, TV interview
