3 Vitaceae Habit - shrubs or small trees, vines. Leaves alternate, simple, or compound. Can be pinnately or palmately veined. Margins are lobed or divided, dentate. Flowers bisexual or unisexual, actinomorphic, infl. a raceme, panicle, or cyme

4 Vitis riparia. Wild Grape Perennial Leaves are alternate, often with opposite tendrils and long petioles. cordate or orbicular in overall shape, and palmately lobed margins are coarsely serrated and slightly ciliate small greenish-white or greenish-yellow flowers have 5 tiny petals, long exerted stamens, and a fragrant musky scent. Along with the tendrils, they occur in clusters opposite from the leaves, except every third one. present across nearly the entire eastern half of North America, excepting the far south and the most western portions of the great plains

5 Parthenocissus spp. Virginia Creeper. The alternate leaves are palmately compound, usually consisting of 5 leaflets (rarely 3 or 7). They are ovate or obovate and coarsely serrated (at least along the upper half of their margins). On each plant, the flowers may be perfect, staminate only, pistillate only, or both staminate and pistillate.
