3 Primary education Junior schools- 8/11 years old Lessons are more formal.

4 Compulsory secondary education ► 11/12-18 years old ► lasts 5 years (5 forms)

5 After the 5-th form Leave school Go to the 6-th form

6 Secondary Education Comprehensive schools take pupils of all abilities no exams

7 General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) At the end of the 5-th form.

8 Further Education College Gives practical courses (hairdressing, typing)

9 The sixth form Lasts 2 years Prepares for “A” Level Exams

10 Private Education Independent schools are called preparatory schools (age up to 13) public schools (age 13-19).

11 Boarding schools Children live as well as study.

12 Boys’ schools

13 Girls’ schools

14 Coeducational schools

15 The system of education
