10. Onomatopoeia The words “crackle” and “pop” imitate the sounds they describe.

11. Hyperbole This is a great example of an exaggeration. No one will die from having someone ask him/her to dance!

12. Simile The sound of the giant’s footsteps is being compared to thunder. Neither the word “like” or “as” is used to compare the two.
