When Edgar Allan Poe was little his parents separated. His mother took the children. In 1811 Poe’s mother dies. The Allan family adopts the Edgar and his siblings. When he turns 14 he attends the academy of William Burke,he succeeds in athletics. As he gets older he starts to write books. At age 18 he prints his first book. Edgar at age 19 gets married to his cousin (at the time age 13) Virginia.

His wife dies in 1847 from a disease called tuberculosis. She was 38 years old. Edgar leaves Richmond to go to Philadelphia and apparently get on the wrong train and goes to Baltimore. Poe is found un conscious on the side of the street and is rushed to the hospital. Two years after his wife died, he dies at age 40. He dies at a hospital in Baltimore October 7, 1849.

The theory I believe in is the one of where he got sick and died in the hospital in Boston. That sounds like the most reasonable explanation for his death. But what I don’t believe is that he got on the wrong train. I think he got on that train for a purpose. But people may not know why he got on that train for the purpose he did. Back then people were getting sick of tuberculosis so that’s not what he probably died of.But it may have to do of why he died.

The Masque of the Red Death is one of the stories we read in class. The story is about the disease tuberculosis. The people were in the castle and thought the disease couldn't get them. They had a festival that was spread out through seven rooms. Each room was different colors. Poe created suspense because with every ring of the clock the all the dancers stopped dancing, the musicians, stop playing and every other person stopped doing what ever they were doing. But when the clock struck 12 o'clock that’s when it happen.

The mysterious man (looks like the grim reaper) walks through all the rooms, everyone had stopped what they are doing. But as he walks he gets to the final room the black room. This room represents death. The king goes and runs through all the rooms until he gets to the black room. The red death is standing there waiting for him. As the prince charges him “ The Red Death" kills him with his own sword.

INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: I think if Poe didn’t even exist we wouldn't have the kind of horror movies and stories we have today. He helped the horror generation we have today. Poe's stories are just like horror movies their interesting and they make you want to read more I didn’t make any connections with the stories and poems. I did enjoy his stories they were very interesting there always talking about death or what has happen in his life.
