2 II. Artistic Ideas Spread 1. The French King, Charles VIII, invading Italy caused many artists to flee thus spreading their Renaissance beliefs to their new homes in Europe

3 A. German Painters 1.Albrecht Durer-Studied in Italy, created woodcuts and engravings, and helped spread the Renaissance 2.Hans Hobein-He was influenced by Albrecht and his pictures were photographic in detail

4 B. Flemish Painters 1.Flanders was the artistic center in Northern Europe 2.Jan van Eyck introduced oil based painting 3.Pieter Bruegel was famous for capturing scenes of everyday people and used very vivid colors
