6 TEXT TO ANALYZE 1.GEOGRAPHY Geography is the study of the earth and its features. As you study geography, you will learn about physical 2.geography, or the characteristics of the earth’s surface. These characteristics include land, water, and plant and 3. animal life. You will also learn about human geography, or the study of how people live on the earth. Human 4.geography covers the people of the world and their effects on the environment around them. Economics, 5.culture, and politics are also part of human geography. People who study the earth and its features are called 6. geographers. It is their job to organize all the information about the geography of our planet. Geographers start 7.with location, or the place where something is. There are two different kinds of location. Absolute location is 8. the exact place where something is. For example, your address tells the absolute location of your home. When 9.you give someone directions to your home, you tell them the name of the street and the house or apartment 10.number. This is so your visitor will know exactly where to go to find your home. Geographers use five themes 11.or ideas to organize and guide their studies about the Planet Earth: 12.Location, Place, Region, Movement, and Human-Environment Interaction 1.GEOGRAPHY Geography is the study of the earth and its features.
