2 Prompt: Write a well developed paragraph that explains how the choices in diction build the mood of the poem. Prompts have 2 parts: The concrete portion that tells you what you must discuss, and the abstract portion—the portion that you have to determine as a reader. What is the concrete portion of this? 4 What do I do first? Select THREE examples of diction that influence the mood. Decide the EFFECT. In other words, how does this example relate to the mood. This is typically explained in 2-3 sentences and will incorporate the diction vocabulary.
