1 School Curriculum Grades K-12
TRX Suspension Training School Curriculum Grades K-12

2 Purpose: COMBAT Obesity Trends
The percentage of children aged 6–11 years in the United States who were obese increased from 7% in 1980 to nearly 18% in Similarly, the percentage of adolescents aged 12–19 years who were obese increased from 5% to 18% over the same period.1, 2 (CDC)

3 Purpose: COMBAT Obesity Trends
Percentage of high school students who were obese*- selected U.S. states, Youth Risk Behavior Survey, 2011

4 DEFINITION: TRX SUSPENSION TRAINING
“A form of body weight resistance training that uses gravity to alter stability allowing the person to simultaneously build strength, balance, flexibility and core stability.”

5 3 principles of progression
Vector Resistance Principle Applies mainly to all standing exercises Changing your body position and moving your center of gravity outside your base of support to change the exercise resistance Pendulum Principle Applies mainly to all ground-based exercises Moving your body in a supine or prone position away or toward from the anchor point to work more or less against gravity, changing the exercise resistance

6 3 principles of progression
Stability Principle Relationship between your center of gravity and base of support Stability is maximized with large base of support and the center of gravity is positioned in the middle of that base TRX offers OVER 300 EXERCISES!

GREEN-FRIENDLY fitness with TRX!

14 NASPETRX TRX complements all 5 NASPE Standards to develop physically literate individuals! TRX enhances the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity! TRX was recently featured on the cover of Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators!

15 How TRX? A true FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT modality of exercise simultaneously incorporating strength, balance, flexibility and core stability that compliments life and sport! EDUCATION of the basic principles and applied science behind body weight resistance training using TRX Suspension Training!

16 HOW TRX? A FUN way to improve and maintain a healthful level of physical fitness! A REALISTIC tool, education and programming to promote long-term health and wellness benefits!

17 NASPE TRX NASPE Standard 1 – The physically literate individual
demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. TRX Complement 1 – True functional exercise that improves the way we move during daily life, based upon our six fundamental movements (i.e. push, pull, squat, lunge, step, rotate). TRX also maximizes core function by altering the body’s stability during exercise.

18 NASPE TRX NASPE Standard 2 – The physically literate individual
applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. TRX Complement 2 – TRX is a modality of strength training that increases understanding of the basic fundamentals of strength training (i.e. increasing performance, strength, and decreasing injury).

19 NASPE TRX NASPE Standard 3 – The physically literate individual
applies knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. TRX Complement 3 –TRX is adaptable for all fitness levels, and through setting individual goals it allows participants to achieve a health-enhanced level of fitness.

20 NASPE TRX NASPE Standard 4 – The physically literate individual
exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. TRX Complement 4 – TRX provides an safe environment that promotes students to exercise at their own appropriate intensity level. TRX programming allows students to participate in group activity and encourage one another’s performance.

21 NASPE TRX NASPE Standard 5 – The physically literate individual
recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoy- ment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction. TRX Complement 5 – TRX programming is adaptable for students of all fitness levels producing an increase of self-efficacy, social interaction and encourages an independent, physically active and healthy lifestyle.

22 IMPLEMENTING TRX TRX School Curriculum (K-12) includes…
Breakdown of how TRX complements NASPE TRX exercises that correlate to the specific standards-based outcome benchmarks assigned to every grade Block plans for every grade accompanied by example lesson plans for different grade levels

23 IMPLEMENTING TRX TRX School Curriculum (K-12) includes…
Glossary of terms and definitions A complete photo library for all exercises and grade specific introductions Scalable high school workout models focusing on the FITT principle specifically tailored towards strength, conditioning (CV), flexibility and HIIT

24 Applying TRX Working under conditions…
We understand that applying TRX will be an addition to one’s regular curriculum. The intention is to offer a systematic approach to implement TRX into the P.E. classroom while minimizing stress and maximizing effectiveness. TRX programming is not intended to take a full class period, but rather be implemented in sections taking as little as 10 minutes of class time.
