1 ROCKS

2 Árbol de Piedra - Bolivia
SEDIMENTARY-Sandstone: Árbol de Piedra ("stone tree") is an isolated rock formation in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve, Bolivia. Known as the "Stone Tree," it is shaped like a stunted tree, and is formed into a thin rock because of strong winds. Árbol de Piedra - Bolivia

3 Bárdenas Reales - Navarra - Spain
SEDIMENTARY: The Bardenas Reales is a semi-desert natural region, or badlands, of some 100,000 acres in southeast Navarre (Spain). The soils are made up of clay, chalk and sandstone and have been eroded by water and wind creating surprising shapes, canyons, plateaus, tabular structures and isolated hills, called seamounts. Bárdenas Reales - Navarra - Spain

4 Balanced Rock, Garden of the Gods
SEDIMENTARY. Balanced Rock, a Fountain formation, is a combination of coarse sand, gravel, silica and hematite. It is hematite that gives the large balancing rock rock its red hue. Balanced Rock, Garden of the Gods Colorado, USA

5 Boulders - South Island - New Zealand
SEDIMENTARY: The Moeraki Boulders are unusually large and spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast of New Zealand. The erosion by wave action of mudstone, comprising local bedrock and landslides, frequently exposes embedded isolated boulders. These boulders are grey-colored septarian concretions, which have been exhumed from the mudstone enclosing them and concentrated on the beach by coastal erosion. Boulders - South Island - New Zealand

6 Brimham Rock - England, UK
SEDIMENTARY: Brimham Rocks are balancing rock formations on Brimham Moor in North Yorkshire, England. The rocks stand at a height of nearly 30 metres in an area owned by the National Trust. There are many variations of rock formations, caused by Millstone Grit being eroded by water, glaciation and wind, most of which have achieved amazing shapes. Brimham Rock - England, UK

7 Sedimentary: Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. Bryce Canyon National Park - Utah, USA

8 Delicate Arch - Utah, USA
SEDIMENTARY: Delicate Arch is formed of Entrada Sandstone.[5] The original sandstone fin was gradually worn away by weathering and erosion, leaving the arch. Delicate Arch - Utah, USA

9 Pinnacles desert - Nambung National Park - Western Australia
SEDIMENTARY: The raw material for the limestone of the Pinnacles came from seashells in an earlier epoch rich in marine life. These shells were broken down into lime rich sands which were blown inland to form high mobile dunes. Pinnacles desert - Nambung National Park - Western Australia

10 Devils Tower - Wyoming, USA
IGNEOUS-Columnar Basalt: Devils Tower is an igneous intrusion in the Black Hills of northeastern Wyoming. It rises dramatically 1,267 feet (386 m) above the surrounding terrain and the summit is 5,114 feet (1,559 m) above sea level. Devils Tower - Wyoming, USA

11 Geiser Black Rock Desert - Nevada, USA
Igneous: The Black Rock Desert is a semi-arid region (in the Great Basin shrub steppe eco-region), of lava beds and playa, or alkali flats. Fly Geyser is not an entirely natural phenomenon; it was accidentally created by well drilling[3] in 1964 exploring for sources of geothermal energy Geiser Black Rock Desert - Nevada, USA

12 Goreme Valley Fairy Chimneys - Turkey
IGNEOUS-Volcanic: Göreme [ˈɟøɾeme] is located among the "fairy chimney" rock formations in a historical region of Turkey. Goreme Valley Fairy Chimneys - Turkey

13 James Bond Island - Thailand
SEDIMENTARY. Ko Tapu is a limestone rock about 20 metres (66 ft) tall with the diameter increasing from about 4 metres (13 ft) near the water level to about 8 metres (26 ft) at the top. James Bond Island - Thailand

14 Karlu Karlu or Devil's Marbles - Northern Territory - Australia
IGNEOUS. The Devils Marbles are large granitic boulders that form the exposed top layer of an extensive and mostly underground granite formation. The natural processes of weathering and erosion have created the various shapes of the boulders. Karlu Karlu or Devil's Marbles - Northern Territory - Australia

15 Krishna's Butterball - India
Igneous. Krishna’s Butterball is enormous; a granite, glacial erratic. Krishna's Butterball - India

16 Landscape Arch - Utah, USA
Sedimentary-Sandstone. The Natural Arch and Bridge Society (NABS) considers the Landscape Arch to be the longest natural arch in the world, Landscape Arch - Utah, USA

17 Igneous-Volcanic? Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the seven Canary Islands
Los Roques - Tenerife

18 Maltese Cross Rock - South Africa
Sedimentary-Sandstone. The Cederberg mountains are noted for dramatic rock formations and San rock art. Maltese Cross Rock - South Africa

19 Montserrat - Catalonia
Sedimentary. Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain located near the city of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. The mountain is composed of strikingly pink conglomerate. Montserrat - Catalonia

20 Mushroom Rock - Kansas, USA
Sedimentary. Mushroom Rock State Park, located in the Smoky Hills region of north-central Kansas, is noted for its mushroom rock formations. They are hoodoos formed through a process of nonuniform erosion and weathering in which a hard mass of Dakota Sandstone capstone resisted erosion while the underlying softer stone weathered away, forming a "mushroom" shape. Mushroom Rock - Kansas, USA

21 Nanya Rock - Taiwan, China
Sedimentary. Nanya Rockwas formed through the weathering of the sandstone that lines the shore. The oxidation of iron ore within the striations of the stone has given it a beautiful striped pattern. (Cross-Bedded Sandstone) Nanya Rock - Taiwan, China

22 Palo Duro Canyon - Texas, USA
Sedimentary. Palo Duro Canyon is a canyon system of the Caprock Escarpment located in the Texas Panhandle near the city of Amarillo, Texas, As the second largest canyon in the United States, it is roughly 60 mi long and has an average width of 6 mi, reaches a width of 20 mi at places. Its depth is around 820 ft , but in some locations it can increase up to 997 ft. Palo Duro Canyon - Texas, USA

23 Sedimentary Rock. Percé Rock is part of the range of cliffs, bays and hills on the SW side of Mal Bay, which are formed of reddish-gold limestone and shale. Perce Rock - Canada

24 Piedra movediza del Tandil - Argentina
Igneous-Granite. Piedra Movediza (shifting stone) was a stone located in Tandil, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Its weight was about 300 tons. It fell and broke on 29 February The rock actually slowly tettered. Piedra movediza del Tandil - Argentina

25 Port Campbell - Australia
Sedimentary-Limestone. The Port Campbell National Park is a protected national park in Victoria, Australia, 190 kilometres south-west of Melbourne; featuring an array of sheer cliffs overlooking offshore islets, rock stacks, gorges, arches, and blow-holes Port Campbell - Australia

26 Igneous-Granite. Preikestolen or Prekestolen, also known by the English translations of Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock, is a steep and massive cliff 604 metres (1982 feet) above Lysefjorden, opposite the Kjerag plateau, in Forsand, Ryfylke, Norway. The top of the cliff is approximately 25 by 25 metres (82 by 82 feet), almost flat, and is a famous tourist attraction in Norway. The rock and deep fjord were molded by glaciers. Prekestolen - Norway

27 Igneous. The Cheesewring is a natural geological formation, a rock outcrop of granite slabs formed by weathering. The Cheesewring - UK

28 Spider Rock, Chelly Canyon - Arizona, USA
Sedimentary-Sandstone. These canyons were cut by streams with headwaters in the Chuska mountains just to the east of the monument. It is located in northeastern Arizona. Spider Rock, Chelly Canyon - Arizona, USA

29 The Externsteine - Germany
Sedimentary. The geological formation consists of a hard, erosion-resistant sandstone, laid down during the early Cretaceous era about 120 million years ago, near the edge of a large shallow sea that covered large parts of Northern Europe at the time. About 70 million years ago, these originally horizontal layers were folded to an almost vertical position; this was followed by various forms of weathering. The Externsteine - Germany
