Allow access to SPOT imagery for non commercial use Creation of a reference database of SPOT imagery Provide an « intelligent filter » to guide long-term data preservation of SPOT imagery … some figures SPOT family 1-5 have been operated over 28 years … … acquiring more than 30 million scenes since 1986

3 General principles What data? Where ?
Orthorectified images Older than 5 years (rolling limit) Decametric resolution (20 and 10m SPOT colour data) Where ? All data processed are made available free of charge via reference database – SPOT World Heritage Archive Registration required for download Specific SWH licence Operated by CNES

4 General principles How can they be used? Non commercial use only “Global change” applications No redistribution Users can obtain access to the images over their area of interest by covering processing costs … these will then be added to the common SWH Archive

5 Current Status CNES has launched the programme by covering costs to process the first 100,000 images Initial focus on France (~ images) Other areas to be defined Priorities for GFOI? Processing to ortho level in progress First set of images will be available in the SWH Archive by end of 2014

6 Opportunities for GFOI
SPOT coverage of GFOI countries ? covering reference years according to the needs provided possible necessary authorizations over some areas Contribution to covering costs of this processing?
