Margot is jealous that Anne has something to look forward to each day and feel excited about.
What does Anne mean when she says that she will have to “run the gauntlet”?
To run the gauntlet means to navigate yourself through difficult and treacherous obstacles. In Anne’s case, it is Mrs van Daan that she must get around safely.
Why is she criticized for visiting Peter’s room? 
Mrs van Daan criticizes Anne for dressing up and suggests that it is improper for a girl to call on a boy. She feels that it is inappropriate for young people to be alone together and suggests that they are doing more than “talking”.
