ReishiMax is a dietary supplement formulated to provide nutritional support for a healthy immune system. This mushroom has the effect of enhancing our body’s natural resistance and physical well being, resulting in optimum health. Reishi has been a popular selling dietary supplement in Asia for years. Pharmanex has improved the formulation of this traditional herb and created ReishiMax. ReishiMax is a dietary supplement, formulated to provide long-term nutritional support for a healthy immune system. This unique mushroom has the effect of enhancing our body’s natural resistance and physical well being, resulting in optimum health and longevity.

2 What is Reishi? Reishi, also known as Lingzhi, is one of the most valued herbal products in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Reishi’s earliest herbal remedies were recorded between the years of 206 B.C. and 8 A.D. Reishi is also known as Lingzhi. It is one of the earliest herbal remedies that has been recorded between the years of 206 B.C.-8A.D, and it is one of the most valued and potent herbal products used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In China, Reishi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine herb of choice as a general tonic for promoting longevity, vitality and endurance, and general health preservation.

3 Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) mushroom is a fungus occurring as a shelf-like form on the sides of trees and stumps in densely wooded mountains with high humidity and low light. The spores of Reishi have such tough outer husks that germination is next to impossible, which accounts for its rarity. The Reishi mushroom is a fungus that occurs as a shelf-like form on the sides of trees and stumps. In nature it grows in densely wooded mountains with high humidity and low light. It is rarely found since it flourishes mainly on the dried trunks of dead plum pasonia trees. The spores of Reishi also have such tough outer husks that make germination next to impossible. This accounts for its rarity.

4 In 1971, Yukio Naoi, a researcher of the Kyoto University in Japan, successfully developed the artificial cultivation of Reishi, which resulted in mass production of Reishi. A new cultivation method by Yukio Naoi from the University of Japan increased the availability of Reishi to everyone. This cultivation method resulted in the ability to cultivate Reishi in large quantities. The Reishi strain is transplanted to the cut of the original wood, so that the Reishi can absorb the nutrients of the wood The cultivation period takes between days. This method makes it very similar to the natural habitat of wild Reishi with out the use of pesticides and heavy metals.

5 There are 62 types of Reishi, of which six are most common:
RED BLACK BLUE WHITE YELLOW PURPLE Pharmanex has chosen to use RED Reishi in ReishiMax™ because it can produce the highest quality extract and has been subject to the most scientific evaluation. There are 62 types of Reishi, of which six are most common: red, blue, yellow, black, white and purple. Pharmanex has chosen to use red Reishi in ReishiMax because it can produce the highest quality extract and has been subject to the most scientific evaluation.

6 These highly active substances are the essence of Reishi.
Reishi Spores These highly active substances are the essence of Reishi. They are the reproductive cells that are released at maturity. Reishi spores are protected by an extremely hard shell which prevents us from optimally absorbing the actives. Reishi spores contain the reproductive cells that are released at maturity. Unfortunately, the outer shells of the mushroom make it extremely hard to obtain these spores and prevent us from optimally absorbing the actives therein.

7 Reishi Spores The unseen microscopic oval spores come from the top of the mushroom at maturity (4–5 months of cultivation). The “Cracked Spore” technology softens and breaks open the shell of Reishi spores so that the potent active ingredients can be extracted. These unseen spores protected in the outer shell contain active ingredients that previously have been hard to obtain due to the hard outer cores. Pharmanex has incorporated a “cracked spore” technology that softens and breaks open the shell of Reishi so that these active ingredients can be extracted. This “cracked spore” technology helps set ReishiMax apart from the competitors.

9 How Does ReishMax GLp work?
Immune System Intricate, variety of functions vital to health When functioning properly, a formidable defence mechanism essential for optimal health Consists of immune cells Diminished functioning of these cells result in a weak immunity ReishiMax GLp stimulates proliferation of immune cells and provides nutritional support for a healthy immune system Our immune system is intricate, with a variety of functions vital to health. When our immune system is functioning properly, the immune system is a formidable defense mechanism essential to maintaining optimal health. Diminished functioning of these cells result in a weak immunity. ReishiMax provides long-term nutritional support for a healthy immune system and helps support immune function and stimulation of cell proliferation. ReishiMax supports your immune system with the following benefits…

10 How Does ReishMax GLp work?
The two main functional components of the immune system Two main functional components of the immune system – humoral and cell-mediated immunity. Humoral – Antibodies are produced by B lymphocytes and latch onto and neutralise foreign invaders such as bacteria and viruses. Cell-mediated – is directed by T lymphocytes. Two types of T cells – Helper (CD4) and cytotoxic (CD8). Helper cells send for help from other cells, including B cells, via chemical signals. Cytotoxic cells develop the ability to attack target cells directly and secrete chemicals that kill infected or aberrant cells. Both B & T cells get help from various other cells such as monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and other cell types.

11 ReishiMax GLp: Clinical Studies
References Pharmanex Web Site - PubMed Web Site - According to the results of clinical studies, ReishiMax has been demonstrated to -stimulate the formation of antibodies -stimulate the ability of proliferation of immune cells and -modulate the function of T cells. These studies show that ReishiMax has the ability to enhance and help maintain a healthy immune system.

12 ReishiMax GLp: Clinical Studies
Unpublished 6 wk study conducted by Medical Institute at National Taiwan University ReishiMax GLp enhanced immune function Increased serum immunoglobulins Increased proliferation of lymphocytes Increased secretion of cytokines (405% more effective than placebo) An unpublished comparative study recently conducted by the Medical Institute at National Taiwan University found that ReishiMax enhanced immune function. After 6 weeks, ReishiMax increased serum immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA), increased proliferation of lymphocytes, and increased secretion of cytokines (IL-2, IL-5, IL-6). In relation to serum IgG, ReishiMax was 25% more effective than placebo and in relation to cytokines, 405% more effective than the placebo. Serum immunoglobulins (antibody produced by B lymphocytes) – fluid fraction of coagulated blood, differs from plasma. Contains various nutrients eg, immunoglobulins. Cytokines – White blood cells communicate with each other via cytokines, which are polypeptides released by cells of the immune system that regulate other cells. They are a broad class of soluble compounds that signal one cell type to another, particularly in response to foreign substances.

13 Healthy Immune Function
