2 Verbs! A verb is an action word (in English, begins with “to”)
Examples: To write To look To jump To sing To bat your eyes at….

3 What is a subject, you may ask?
Subjects! What is a subject, you may ask?

4 The subject of a verb is the person or thing which performs the action of that verb: Gordon travaille. Gordon is working. Mes parents habitent en Espagne. My parents live in Spain. La voiture ne veut pas démarrer. The car won't start.

5 Subject pronouns replace this person or thing: Il travaille
Subject pronouns replace this person or thing: Il travaille. He is working. Ils habitent en Espagne. They live in Spain. Elle ne veut pas démarrer. It won't start.

12 Aimes-tu? To ask someone you know well if he/she likes something use the familiar form: Aimes-tu….? To ask someone you do not know well of is older than you are if he/she likes something, use the formal form: Aimez-vous…?

13 Et toi? “Et toi?” directly translates as “And you?”.
Use the phrase “et toi?” to respond and engage in conversation. Example: Très Bien Spongebob. Et toi? Salut, Patrick! Comment ca va? Très bien, merci!

25 Pronouns + verbs = FUN! Sometimes in a sentence we do not use subject pronouns, but names of people to indicate who is doing the action Ex: OR He speaks = Pikachu speaks =

26 Ask yourself: which subject pronoun is being used?
Be careful to count how many people are performing the action in order to place the correct verb ending on your stem. Ask yourself: which subject pronoun is being used? (subject pronoun = _______ therefore ending = ____) Ex. Ma mère, mon père et mon chat march_____ au magasin.
