2  Primary Reaction- where combustion (burning) starts.  Main Reaction-where combustion is complete.  Luminous- free carbon in the atmosphere gets “excited” and glows. Candle Flame

3  Fueled by capillary action—the wick sucks up wax and burns it in the presence of oxygen.  Carbon dioxide and water vapor are waste products of combustion  Free carbon is soot Candle Flame

4  Primary Combustion-air and fuel mixture is ignited.  Main Reaction-combustion (burning) starts to take place.  Mantle-combustion is completed. Bunsen Burner

5  Fuel is methane (a gas) and oxygen.  They mix and cause a blue flame.
