7. Unintended consequences: are uses or results that engineers do not purposely include when designing some product or process  NOTE: Unintended consequences are not always bad. Sometimes they are good!  Example: Before WWI, military engineers invented cannons that could accurately shoot large explosive shells very high and very far It was designed for warfare. However one unintended consequence is that we can use cannons like this to shoot large snow banks in the mountain regions where people ski. In other words it helps protect people from avalanches.
