7 Colonists happy to live under British until 1760s.Taxes were dramatically increased and freedoms were threatened. The American Revolution Encouraged by the ideas of the Enlightenment and a desire for their own nation, the colonists rebel. Write this down

10 The French Revolution Unlike the American Revolution, the French Revolution was fought to eliminate social inequality. The social structure of France before 1789 contributed to the Revolution. Write this down

11 The French Revolution The Three Estates (social structure) 1st Estate: Clergy(church). Paid 2% taxes. Owned 10 % of the land. Privileged. 2nd Estate: Nobles.Rich landowners. Paid no taxes. 2% of pop. but owned 20% of the land. Privileged. Write this down

15 How are French & American Revolutions Different?  American Revolution was led by well educated, wealthy aristocrats.  French Revolution was largely a revolution of peasants. Led by Peasant Mobs.
