17 ALB Identification: Final Points Image Credit: Joe Boggs, Ohio State University Extension, Ohio State University ALB is very unique: no other beetle found in North America comes close in size and appearance. —Mistaken identifications are usually made without direct comparisons with ALB. However, ANY suspicious looking beetle or larva should be reported! —It's better for regulatory agencies to get a sample of a look-a-like rather than not get a sample of an actual ALB!
