4 Why was the writer’s aunt surprised? ItIt was Sunday. I never get up early on Sundays. I sometimes stay in bed until lunchtime. Last Sunday I got up very late. I looked out of the window. It was dark outside. ‘What a day!’ I thought. ‘It’s raining again.’ Just then, the telephone rang. It was my aunt Lucy. “I’ve just arrived by train,’ she said. ‘I’m coming to see you.’until Lastby ‘But I’m still having breakfast,’ I said. ‘What are you doing?’ she asked. ‘I’m having breakfast,’ I repeated. ‘Dear me,’ she said. ‘Do you always get up so late? It’s one o’clock!’!’

5 it 指天气、时间、距离、身份等,本身无意义: 1.It’s September. It’s eight o’clock in the morning. (time) 2. It’s very cold today. (weather) 3. It is only two miles from my home to New York. (distance) 4. It was my aunt Lucy.

9 Summary writing The writer always gets up late on Sundays. He got up late last Sunday. Then his aunt Lucy telephoned. She had arrived by train. She was coming to see him. ‘I’m still having breakfast,’he said. His aunt was very surprised. It was one o’clock. (45 words)
