3 A call for interest has been issued at the closing plenary during the November meeting in Dallas The 802.16 Working Group has approved the creation of a WG Ad Hoc Committee with the objective of promoting discussion on robustness and reliability A Committee reflector has been created: –http://dot16nrr-reflector.wirelessman.orghttp://dot16nrr-reflector.wirelessman.org A dedicated folder is available in the Member’s upload area: –http://dot16nrr.wirelessman.orghttp://dot16nrr.wirelessman.org NRR Ad Hoc Committee

4 Scope of the Committee The purpose is to analyze supplementary functionalities for fixed and mobile 802.16 systems For civil and professional applications (public safety, company & airport communications, surveillance, backhauling, etc) The Committee is focused on the following items –High resilience and robustness (PMP architecture) –Increased reliability level –High security levels –Spectrum issues –Very high speed mobility –Dynamic group management

7 Guidelines for IEEE-SA Meetings All IEEE-SA standards meetings shall be conducted in compliance with all applicable laws, including antitrust and competition laws. Don’t discuss the interpretation, validity, or essentiality of patents/patent claims. Don’t discuss specific license rates, terms, or conditions. –Relative costs, including licensing costs of essential patent claims, of different technical approaches may be discussed in standards development meetings. Technical considerations remain primary focus Don’t discuss or engage in the fixing of product prices, allocation of customers, or division of sales markets. Don’t discuss the status or substance of ongoing or threatened litigation.
