4. Inventor: Ruth Wakefeild Ruth Wakefeild built a toll house to serve homemade meals. She graduated from Framingham State Normal School Department of Household Arts. She worked as a dietitian and lectured on foods. The Toll House burned down on New Years Eve in 1984. She passed away in 1977.
