3. The 3 Fs of Resume Writing Function Inform the audience what you’re trying to accomplish Form How your resume looks might influence a person’s decision in hiring you. Include only information pertinent to the job/position you are seeking (e)Ffectiveness: Must demonstrate knowledge and execution of function and form Grammatically correct/ no spelling erros

4. What’s in a Student Resume? Generally, resumes include the following information: Heading Objective Education/Academics Experience Additional info/extra-curriculars references

5. Heading Should be at the top of your resume Includes: Your name Address Phone number E-mail address (professional)

6. Objective Lets your potential employer know your main goals Is an action-based sentence: “To obtain a degree in psychology” “To obtain a full-time teaching position at Holy Family”

7. Education/Academics Lists the school(s) that you have attended If you have above a 3.0, include your GPA Include any academic honors you have received (ie. Dean’s list, essays award winner, Trustee scholar etc.) Include the years you attended each school, and/or the graduation date You do not need to list your elementary school. After you graduate college, do not list your high school.

8. Additional Info/Extracurricular Activities Should host any important information that would be helpful to the job your are applying for Examples: Member of team Leadership positions Skills (Bilingual/ Microsoft proficient) Demonstrate your uniqueness

9. References People who can speak to your good skills/habits and recommend you for the job Ask these people before you apply- so that they know they might be getting a phone call and can catch up with you on your most recent accomplishments You can always put: references available upon request.
