Bellringer / The Quest In many stories, the protagonist undergoes a quest, a journey in which s/he searches for the “magic elixir,” a drink that gives everlasting life, but may otherwise be thought of as an essential truth or understanding, or amazing treasure. Typically on this quest, the protagonist meets an older person who helps guide the protagonist to his/her destination. In The Awakening, who functions as the old guide to Edna? What qualities does this person have that are well-suited for this task? Explain your answer.
