Because shark fin soup is such a delicacy and such an important cultural tradition in China, many hunters will go to extremes to capture these animals. The article then asserts that due to finning many laws have been put in place to protect sharks. However, these laws that limit where and how many sharks can be captured are sometimes hard to enforce in the open waters of the ocean.
