2  The South- the weather is very dry and is desert like.  The North- The air is moist, the land is lush and fertile.

3  The Northern terrain is surrounded by heavy woods.  The Southern area (Low Lands) is more open fields and resemble sagebrush grasslands.

4  Pit houses were used during the winter months by the plateau people.  (House built underground with a roof and a ladder coming out from the top.)

5  The Tipi was used during the spring/summer months by the Plateau people.  (Built with wooden frames, and Tule (bulrush).)  They got the idea of the Tipi from the plains people

6  Tule Mat Lodge is a summer home which is built above ground.  They are very large and wide and it is built with the same stuff to build a tipi.

7  The Lean-tos were temporary shelters used by the Plateau people.  Made out of poles and Tule brush mats.

8  The Plateau people travelled in many different ways:  Ktunaxa sturgeon-nosed canoe  Ktunaxa dugout canoe  Ktunaxa saddle  Nlaka’pamux snowshoes (for dogs)  Nlaka’pamux snowshoes (for humans)

10  Tools that the Plateau people used were usually made of bone, wood, and stone. They were decorated with carvings, feathers, copper, and beads.  The tools they used were:  Ktunaxa dipper (serving food)  Root digging stick  Fish hooks (catch fish)  Ktunaxa fish trap (catch fish)  Three pronged fish spear (catch fish)  Hide Scraper

12  The plateau people loved music, and loved dancing to the beat of the drum.  Music was very important to the Plateau people. Drum shega-skah-hdah Flute

13  Each village had one or several leaders/chiefs.  There is one main village/ or one family chief who inherited the role from their father.

14  They're was other chosen chiefs as well, used for different roles ( hunting, warfare, fishing, etc.) because of the abilities they had.

15  The plateau government is mostly democratic, all the men in the village get a say but the chief still makes the final decision.

18  Split up the class  Half the class on one side, the other half on the other side.  Each group chooses someone to play rock, paper, scissors. Winner gets to start the game.  If you get the question right, your side gains a point. Whatever side has the most points at the end wins. (Rules will be further explained.)
