4 STARTED WRITING SONGS ABOUT THE RODEO LIFE STYLE RECORDED SONGS IN A FRIENDS BASEMENT SOLD SONGS OUT OF THE BACK OF HIS TRUCK 1976 WON BAREBACK RIDING CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO RETIRED FROM PRCA IN 1980

5 TEAMED UP WITH JOE CLARKE FROM UTAH CHRIS AND HIS NEW BAND REHEARSED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A HOTEL BAR BY 1982 HE HAD SOLD OVER 250,000 COPIES OF ALBUMS SELF RELEASED 22 ALBUMS BY END OF DECADE

13 BAREBACK JACK i. 0:00 Introduction begins with guitars playing the main chords and drums every other beat. At 0:10 the beat picks up with guitars and drums ii. 0:20 the first verse begins guitars and drums they are playing the same beat as the very first part of the introduction. iii. 0:50 the chorus begins, the beat changes just a bit to a faster version of the beat. Notice at 1:04 the electric guitar has a shot solo. iv. 1:15 the second verse begins with the same beat as the first and introduction but with a fiddle playing the part of the guitar. Between the lines the fiddle has a short solo. At 1:37 the piano picks up instead of the fiddle. v. 1:45 the chorus repeats with the same beat as the first, but between the end of the vocals and before the start of the third verse the guitars, fiddle and piano play the same beat as the intro beat. The vocals change just a bit, instead of You’ll ask whose that well that’s Bareback Jack, he changes it to You’ll all know me, my names Bareback Jack vi. 2:09 the third verse begins with the same beat and rhythm as the rest vii. 2:39 the final verse starts with the chorus beat viii. 2:54 the conclusion begins with and electric guitar solo and then all instruments fade out

14 Hooked on an 8 Second Ride i. 0:00 the introduction starts with a the guitar and drums slowly fading in at 0:23 the beat picks up to a pretty simple beat of 4/4 ii. 0:38 the first verse begins with the simple 4/4 beat playing in the back ground with the electric guitar holding the beat longer iii. 1:08 the chores begins and plays the same beat as the guitar in the first verse fading out at 1:22, then the beat picks up to the beat of 4/4 and ending with a electric guitar solo with the beat playing in the background iv. 1:40 the second verse begins with the same beat as the first v. 2:09 the chores repeats with the same beat as before, but they add 2 more lines to the lyrics and they are just a repeat as the last line in the chorus vi. 2:42 The conclusion of the song begins with the same beat as the beginning of the song, with the guitar picking up pace until a solo at the very end and then the drums fade out

15 WESTERN SKIES i. 0:00 the introduction begins with a piano, drums and guitar playing offset beats ii. 0:10 the first verse begins with a same beat but the drums and guitar are the instruments that stand out. The piano plays a small solo at the end of the verse iii. 0:56 the second verse begins with the same verse as the beginning but the electric guitar holds the notes iv. 1:38 the bridge begins with only the drums and guitar playing with the piano playing between the beats. At the end of the bridge the fiddle plays a solo with drum accompaniment v. 2:18 the third verse begins with the same beats as the first ones vi. 2:58 the final verse begins with just one line of lyrics vii. 3:10 the conclusion begins with the same the beginning of the song and then fades out at 3:27

16 COPENHAGEN i. 0:00 the introduction begins with Chris giving a narrative of the intro ii. 0:08 the chorus begins with the 2/3 beat iii. 0:28 the first verse begins with a 2/2 beat iv. 0:48 the chorus repeats with the same beat of 2/3 but with a guitar solo at the end v. 1:26 the second verse begins with the same beat and rhythm as the first verse vi. 1:46 the chorus repeats vii. 2:05 the third verse begins with the piano standing out viii. 2:27 the conclusion begins with Toby Keith giving a final narrative

They then begin playing 3/3 beat ii. 0:33 the first verse begins with a the guitar and drums playing a soft beat just like they are telling a story iii. 1:06 the second verse begins with the beat picking up just a bit just as the story is iv. 1:40 the third verse begins with a little faster beat; you can feel the anticipation in the song. At the end of the lyrics the guitar plays a solo and then fades in the fiddle with the drums playing in the background v. 2:46 the fourth verse begins with the same beat as the last verse vi. 3:19 the fifth verse begins with the same beat as the first verse then changes to the beat as the last 3 verses vii. 3:58 the conclusion begins playing the beats of the last few verses repeating until the end when the guitar takes lead and then all instruments start to fade out then so does the guitar
