4 Primary – Activities involved in removing natural resources from the environment; such as farming, fishing, lumbering, and oil drilling. 1st Level of Economic Activity

5 Primary = Agriculture The raising of crops and animals for human use. VOCABULARY # 1 1st Level of Economic Activity

6 Secondary – Activities that process raw materials into products that consumers (people) want or other businesses can use. 2 nd Level of Economic Activity

7 Manufacturing = secondary Factories make products for people to purchase VOCABULARY # 2 2nd Level of Economic Activity

8 Level 3: Wholesale  When a business owner buys goods or materials he or she shops from a wholesaler.  They sell to a retailer who sells to consumers.

9 Level 4: Retail  When we, the consumers, buy goods or materials we shop at retail stores.

10 What does scarce mean?  Scarce is when you do not have enough of something. In regions with hunger/famine food is scarce.

12 Primary FIRST the farmer or crop workers must harvest the cocoa beans. 1st Level of Economic Activity
