2 Agenda GE IP – Get Connected The road to iFIX v5.8
What’s new with iFIX 5.8? RtOI and how iFIX customers are now RtOI ready iFIX Product Simplification Objective of this presentation is to look at work done in iFIX post iFIX 5.5. We will start with the review of the 18 months prior to release of iFIX 5.8 and then look at the iFIX 5.8 release in detail. There are some exciting changes made to Historian for SCADA and Webspace and those will be reviewed as well as part of this presentation.

3 Our Vision Our Vision Connecting the dots….

4 GE Intelligent Platforms gets you Connected
Information finds you, mobile access, collaboration power and digital tools at the source islands of information aggregated analytics in real-time Connected Machines Connected Data Connected Insights Connected People Today, a lot of companies are anxious about the state of their operations and how they can set themselves up to be competitive in the future. First, they see that their infrastructure is aging, and their equipment isn’t working the way they want it to. Things aren’t as efficient as they should be, and it takes a lot of manpower to even keep things at status quo because problems have to arise before they can be fixed. And though more and more machines are equipped with sensors and automated, there is still an enormous fleet of equipment that is off line and disconnected. At GE Intelligent Platforms, our focus is on connecting machines, the data they generate, and the people that work in your company to enable new insight and efficiencies. This is the Connected World and it’s behind every one of our solutions. So how do you get connected? Enabling a complete Industrial Internet based solution for your enterprise means deploying connected machines, connecting the data from those machines to the right data infrastructure, having the right analytics to gain instant insight from data, and connecting people digitally for better collaboration. GE Intelligent Platforms work with you to start in any part of the roadmap or to attack all four parts at the same time. We have solutions, services and partners to plan and deploy the right solution. We can help you get connected to realize the full potential of the Industrial Internet. Connecting the dots to deliver seamless “insight to action”

7 And beyond that we get into the iFIX 5.8 release.
Extensibility Webspace Extensions Windows 8 Server 2012 Support Windows 7 Embedded support OFC – Single Login, Context Passing Virtualization Workflow Trigger iPhone & Android Clients Historian 5.x adoption iPAD Client iFIX v5.5 iFIX v5.8 iFIX Road to v5.8 Marathon Disaster Recovery support iFIX v5.5 SP1 iFIX v5.5 SP2 iFIX v5.5 Feature Releases thru SIMs and SPs Core Improvements Failover Improvements Historian String Data type support Graphics resolution and performance improvements Trending Enhancements GE IP is moving all of its traditional development processes to an Agile Development methodology and some of the activities in iFIX is a result of the same. After the 5.5 release, the immediate features on the deck were broken down into features that would impact the core and ones that will not. The ones that will not impact the core were then picked for faster release cycles and as a result we had 2 Service Pack releases and some feature releases earlier to iFIX 5.8 going out the door. As part of SP1, iFIX was formally certified for VMWare support. All configurations of iFIX have been tested with VMWare and are now supported. SP1 also gave us the iPAD client with Webspace. SP2 updated the Historian datalink with String datatype support. In addition to that, it introduced a new concept called Integrated Windows Authentication for Webspace. As part of this feature, users can now get into the Webspace session without additional login dialogs. This feature uses the credentials of the user logged into the device to pass it down to iFIX and log itself in. When starting using this mode, when one gets into Webspace, the Graphics are in a read only mode. The user can navigate the entire application but cannot input through the graphics e.g. Alarm acknowledgements. The first time it tries to do so, the user will be prompted for a login in to authenticate his rights. Beyond SP2, we have some feature releases like the Win7 Embedded support for iFIX Embedded. Android support for Webspace and the iFIX SCADA side Service Provider that publishes iFXI tags and alarms to the SOA/Workflow equipment model and allows for a native two way connection between the them. And beyond that we get into the iFIX 5.8 release. Newer OS Support

9 Proficy® New Operating Systems Support iFIX 5.8 9

10 New Operating Systems Support
* * iFIX 5.8 releases with support for Windows 8 and Server It also supports SQL Server There have been questions around support for Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 and while out of the gate 5.8 has not been tested on these OS’, we will have them supported soon as the effort to test has already started. One important thing to remember with respect to Windows 8 and Server 2012 is that iFIX currently will not support Environment Protection of the Graphics in Runtime environment on these two OS’. There are some differences in behavior as it relates to accesses background applications with these two OS’ as compared to Win7 and 2008 and hence as of now we have not completely solved for it. There is work going on to solve for it and we will make it available through a SIM. * Currently iFIX will not support Environment Protection for iFIX Graphics in Runtime while running on Windows 8 and Server 2012.

12 Proficy HMI/SCADA – iFIX Dynamic Resolution support
Low form factors/resolutions Non-Standard Aspect Ratios Web based Rendering iFIX 5.8 finally attempts to solve the Dynamic Resolution challenges of iFIX. With iFIX 5.8, you can move your graphics not just across resolutions but across different aspect ratios like Widescreen monitors, tablets, LCD TVs. For existing customers who have developed graphics on 4:3 ratios, when they move their graphics to widescreens, you will see a border on the two sides of your graphic as it maintains the aspect ratio and centers it on the screen. Any new graphic developed on Widescreens will take up the entire space. Important thing to note is that iFIX 5.8 will not convert your existing graphics by default. It will upgrade your existing apps as is and will let you decide when and how many you convert. iFIX 5.8 will allow existing applications to run in a mixed mode of new and old coordinate systems. Any new graphics you develop will automatically use the new coordinate system. Wide Screen Displays High Definition Large Displays/TVs

29 Why Proficy Historian for SCADA
Why Proficy Historian for SCADA? Advantages over traditional Data Loggers Simple set-up and configuration – single install/one-click configuration no need to involve IT to set up or maintain SQL Improved ad-hoc Reporting through OLE DB support Sub-second collection and  microsecond timestamp resolution for preserving device timestamps Advanced SCADA features rely on the PH4S engine for optimal performance - e.g. iFIX Global Time Control and historical on animations, scripts, etc. only work with historian Our most powerful solutions and advanced analytics require historical data… ideally lots of it, more than a simple logger will easily handle Historian is way faster than SQL for DGR.  Ryan already has this one. Configuration is pretty equal with SQL express.  If you go to full SQL, then the administration on SQL is likely more, plus often gets IT involved, which at the automation level, tends to be a problem for many. The direct historian expressions and animation config in CIMPLICITY (guessing iFIX) is way better.  Eg. browse points, tell it you want to animate on historian expression, fill it out, done. Vs. building a SQL query, assigning to a tag, animating from that.  Also, the trends are a simple click to configure for historical.  Not sure if it competes with the HWC, but you can visualize your historical data in CIMP and iFIX (pulse) without a SCADA server. For SQL redundancy, we can’t have it on node, you would need to set up on its own cluster and set up the logging to the clustered SQL Server.  So likely some advantage in the ease of configuration vs. SQL. Cluster setup is a bit of a pain. Sub-second collection and  microsecond timestamp resolution and preserving device timestamps – e.g. Classic fastest collection is once per second and timestamps are from the time of poll Collector redundancy – does not exist in Classic And more! More built in calculation modes and a calculation engine that lets you do anything in vbscript - just min/max/avg in Classic Better connectivity via OLEDB and C and VB and C# apis, plus OPCHDA server If doing Alarming from any OPC AE server then Historian is better, however if just doing iFix alarms then Classic has ODBC Other significant differences but will vary by customer whether important vs Classic - Fast write performance, disk space usage, etc

30 Why upgrade from iFIX Classic?
Features Classic Historian for SCADA Read Performance Slower Faster Write Performance High speed Data resolution 1 sec resolution 1 millisecond resolution Connectivity ODBC and VB toolkit OLEDB Historical Playback No Yes Enhanced Charts Analytics-ready data No, requires transformation and import to be queries Yes, plug & play with Plant/Enterprise Historian and Proficy analytics applications Configuration and Management File-based Requires management Manual handling to view offline older data One-click configuration Automated Archiving Automated retrieval from older archives Rich tools for backup Centralization No native ability Server to server distributor (push to central, all or selected) Data Storage Requirements No compression, 40 bytes per sample Yes, rich capabilities, 6 bytes per sample plus compression plus conditional collection… OPC Time Stamping Data Types Analog Multiple, including Digital Tags, Lab data can be imported with CSV/XML and compression applied
