4 Considerations It takes time to learn to reflect on own learning in relation to target criteria. Formal tests experiences can hinder - students think assessment is for the teacher/school or parents. They fear assessment from summative tests which in turn hinders learning. Should be little or no teacher judgement during the process – even positive critique can reinforce students’ dependence on teachers’ opinions and extrinsic values. (Peer evaluation an alternative of group presentation).
