THERE ARE TWO MAIN ASPECTS OF SCRUM THAT DEFINE IT AND SIGNAL ITS VALUE FOR ANY PROJECT OR PRODUCT. THOSE TWO ARE: --CHANGING REQUIREMENTS AND ITERATIVE RELEASES OR PHASES. DEFINE ITERATIVE. THE HARD PART IS GETTING THOSE REQUIREMENTS RIGHT, ON PAPER, BEFORE DOING ANY OF THE ACTUAL WORK. As you continue to study PM basics, be aware of this option for certain projects.

8 INSTEAD OF USING TIME (THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE WBS) THE PM ESTIMATES TASKS IN THE LESS PRECISE UNIT OF THE “STORY POINT” UNITS (STORY POINTS) THIS IS HELPFUL IF REQUIREMENTS ARE UNKNOWN AND/OR FREQUENTLY CHANGING. BREAKING WORK DOWN INTO SMALL UNITS THAT CAN BE COMPLETED IN A WEEK OR TWO, OR EVEN LESS, CAN BE VERY HELPFUL A SCRUM APPROACH ALSO MEANS COMMUNICATING DAILY ACROSS THE TEAM TO SAY "HERE'S WHAT I DID YESTERDAY, WHAT I GOT STUCK ON, AND WHAT I AM DOING TODAY." HOW TO START? LOOK AT SCRUM/AGILE, AND START PULLING THOSE PRACTICES THAT YOU CAN SEE WILL BENEFIT YOU.

9 BY THE WAY…. WATERFALL WOULD APPLY VERY WELL TO INDUSTRIES LIKE AUTOMOBILE, HEALTHCARE, AEROSPACE, ETC. WHERE IT'S EASIER TO CLARIFY UP-FRONT WHAT EXACTLY YOU NEED. IF THERE IS TIME IN THIS COURSE, THEN I WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THAT METHOD AS WELL.
