1 Test Corrections For the definitions you missed: – Write the word and definition 5x. For the sentences you missed: – Write 2 sentences for every vocabulary word you missed.

2 Vocabulary Attentive: giving attention to something – Ex: Be attentive when reading directions, or you’ll get something wrong. Kindle: to build or start a fire – Ex: We had to kindle a fire in order to keep warm. Fragrance: a sweet or pleasant smell; a scent – Ex: The fragrance coming from the kitchen told me that Mom baked cookies. Jostle: to bump roughly against another person or thing – Ex: When changing classes, students jostle each other in the hall. Potential: the ability to grow, develop, or improve – Ex: If you work hard, you have the potential to become anything you want to be.

3 Review What makes up a complete sentence? What is a simple sentence? What is a compound sentence? What is a conjunction?

4 Practice: Create Compound Sentences 1.Dad found a worm in the apple. He threw out the apple. 2.The snow was falling. The children were catching the snowflakes. 3.Eva cried and stamped her feet. Dad still would not let her see that movie. 4.Johnny and Carlos ran to school. The twins followed them. 5.My sister wanted to live in a warmer climate. She moved to Texas. 6.We must fix the roof. The rain will get in. 7.Latisha and Samuel finished their homework. They may go out to play. 8.The rain began to come down. I opened my umbrella. 9.We tried to get tickets for the play. The box office was closed. 10.Mrs. Brown just arrived for dinner. I heard her car door close.
