3 SAT 42 Bemused (adj.) – confused; bewildered Sentence – Ralph was bemused when all the lights in his house began twitching on and off for no apparent reason. New Sentence (HW) –

5 SAT 44 Benign – (adj.) gentle; not harmful Sentence – Pete’s remarks seemed threatening at first, but Sally soon discovered that his words were benign. HW – NEW SENTENCE

6 SAT 45 Blasphemy (noun) – irreverence; an insult to something sacred; profanity Sentence – The terrible things that Polly said about God could only be considered blasphemy.

7 SAT 46 Blatant or blatantly (adj.) – unpleasantly loud and noisy; glaring; glaringly obvious Sentence – Mr. Smith’s blatant criticism of our project was heard by everyone in the room. HW – New Sentence

8 SAT 47 Brevity (noun) – briefness; terseness Sentence – The audience was grateful for the brevity of the speaker’s remarks because most of them were tired of sitting. 9 SAT 48 Candor (noun) – truthfulness; frankness; sincere honesty Sentence – My best friend’s candor hurts my feelings sometimes since he always tells me exactly what he thinks of my actions. HW – NEW SENTENCE

10 SAT 49 Censure (verb) – To criticize severely; to condemn for doing something wrong Sentence – The Senate sometimes censures senators for breaking laws or engaging in behavior unbecoming of an elected official.
