2 Whip Nae Nae Fitness Funk
Scholars will line up in groups of six, forming a total of five lines on the turf/playground. Scholars will be able to demonstrate listening skills with a direct learning style format. Our first movement is the “Whip” and each time a “move” is called out, scholars will perform a different movement, including cardiovascular development. 3 Whip Nae Nae Fitness Funk
Step/Exercise Scholars will be able to demonstrate the Whip dance move. Whip – feet are within shoulder width; on the first count, scholars will punch forward (and hold) with a step to the left wider than shoulder width. Scholars will then be able to demonstrate the Nae Nae dance move. Nae Nae – On count five, scholars will wave one hand in the air rocking back and forth as if they are waving a hat whilst riding a horse. Cues Step and punch Wave your hand

Step/Exercise Watch Me Whip, Whip – Scholars will punch forward (for one-half count) with a step to the left wider than shoulder width, then punch with the other hand (for one-half count) with a step to the right wider than shoulder width.  Recommendation: practice this set of moves slower to ensure the accuracy, then progressing to regular/song pace. Nae Nae – Scholars will repeat the Nae Nae step Cues Step and punch, punch (Other hand) Nae Nae – Wave your hand

6 Whip Nae Nae Fitness Funk
Step/Exercise Watch Me & Oooh, oooh – Scholars will perform jumping jacks when the words “watch me, watch me” are called out. When the artist says, “Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh” scholars will put hands along sides and perform four jumps in place Cues Jumping Jacks, Jumping Jacks Jump, jump, jump, jump (repeat)

Step/Exercise Stanky Leg – Lunges; scholars will demonstrate a lunge with one foot forward and one foot back, flexing both knees to 90 degrees so that the rear/back knee is close to the ground and the front knee does not pass the front foot. Switch to jumping lunges once scholars have demonstrated proper form of traditional lunges; jump lunges occur after every two counts (Artist says “Do the Stanky Leg” => two lunges are demonstrated, then jump lunge to opposite forward and back, repeat.) Cues Lunges Jump Switch!

Step/Exercise Break Your Legs – Scholars will perform the grapevine (either every 1-2 count, or every other if too difficult for some scholars) to the right, and then to the left for a total of FOUR times Cues Grapevine

Step/Exercise Bop – Scholars will perform body weight squats on every (every other) count or “Bop” OR Free dance during the Bop as this is a good time to either catch up from previous skills performed, or to just catch their breath Cues Squats, squats, squats OR Free dance

Step/Exercise Watch Me Whip –Scholars will repeat the Whip step Scholars will repeat the Nae Nae step Scholars will repeat the doubled time Whip step Nae Nae – Scholars will repeat the Nae Nae step REPEAT Cues Step and punch Wave your hand Step and punch, punch

Step/Exercise Watch me, watch me Oooh, oooh, oooh, oooh Cues Jumping Jacks Jump, jump, jump, jump (repeat)

12 Whip Nae Nae Fitness Funk
Step/Exercise Watch Me You – scholars will be able to demonstrate a starting track position in a low position, crouching close to the ground with both hands in front of their front foot as if getting ready to run in a track race. Watch Me Superman – Scholars will be able to step up onto front foot’s tip toes from track pose and raise arms/hands to side as if getting ready to fly while back foot is stretched out behind them. (REPEAT pose and lift for each “You” and “Superman” for a total of four times each) Cues Track pose Now lift/Up!

Step/Exercise Watch Me Duff – scholars will be able to demonstrate push-ups when the artist calls out “duff”. If scholars are not able to perform push-ups through this entire step, holding a high plank may be used in lieu of continuing poor push-up form which may lead to injury. (WATCH ME GET “BUFF, BUFF, BUFF”) Cues Let’s get buff! Push-Ups OR High Plank hold

Step/Exercise Bop – Scholars will perform body weight squats on every (every other) count or “Bop”. May add the Squats to the LEFT & RIGHT as directed in song or squat in place. OR Free dance during the Bop as this is a good time to either catch up from previous skills performed, or to just catch their breath Cues Squats, squats, squats OR Free dance

Step/Exercise Watch Me Whip –Scholars will repeat the Whip step Scholars will repeat the Nae Nae step Scholars will repeat the doubled time Whip step Nae Nae – Scholars will repeat the Nae Nae step REPEAT Cues Step and punch Wave your hand Step and punch, punch
