This is a time that travel-weary parents welcome, vacation-loving kids shun, and is standard fare for real estate professionals that recognize August as a quiet identifier of the expectation of a seasonal housing slowdown. That said, home sales and prices have both continued to edge up across the U.S. on a macro level compared to last year's numbers. Here is the local picture. In the Houston region, for the week ending August 9: New Listings increased 9.1% to 2,823 Pending Sales increased 20.1% to 2,118 Closed Sales decreased 5.5% to 1,458 Houston Market Movements
