3 CORROSIVE COMPOUNDS ACIDS / ALKALIS
- CAN CAUSE IRRITATION AND/OR BURNING OF THE SKIN AND OTHER BODY TISSUES. - CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO METALS

4 - CAN BE TOXIC OR HARMFUL BY INGESTION, OR THROUGH SKIN ABSORPTION.
POISONS - CAN BE TOXIC OR HARMFUL BY INGESTION, OR THROUGH SKIN ABSORPTION.

5 - CAN BURN WHEN EXPOSED TO HEAT OR SPARK SOURCES
FLAMMABLE - CAN BURN WHEN EXPOSED TO HEAT OR SPARK SOURCES

6 OXIDANTS - CAN CAUSE OTHER ITEMS, SUCH AS WOOD TO BURN, OR CAUSE OTHER CHEMICALS TO REACT - RELEASE OXYGEN

7 DON’T DO IT UNLESS UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION.
MAKING COCKTAILS Acid plus alkali makes heat, and spluttering. Acid plus chlorine can create toxic gases. Anionic plus cationics may not cause obvious reactions but can neutralise each other. DON’T DO IT UNLESS UNDER DIRECT SUPERVISION.

8 EYES SKIN INHALATION INGESTION
ROUTES OF POISONING EYES SKIN INHALATION INGESTION

9 WEAR GOGGLES OR FACE SHIELD TO PREVENT INJURY
EYE CONTACT Hold eye open Flush with water for 15 minutes to remove as much as possible Take to Doctor - take MSDS or label of product WEAR GOGGLES OR FACE SHIELD TO PREVENT INJURY

10 WEAR APRON, GLOVES, BOOTS & FACE PROTECTION TO PREVENT INJURY.
SKIN CONTACT If on skin, rinse area with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes If clothing has been contaminated then clothing should be removed If irritation persists then see a Doctor. Take the MSDS or label with you. WEAR APRON, GLOVES, BOOTS & FACE PROTECTION TO PREVENT INJURY.

11 WEAR BREATHING APPARATUS TO PREVENT INJURY.
INHALATION Remove victim from the area - avoid becoming a victim yourself If victim is breathing then make them comfortable If victim is not breathing then use EAR/CPR techniques Seek medical assistance if patient is not well - take MSDS or label with you. WEAR BREATHING APPARATUS TO PREVENT INJURY.

12 MAKE SURE ALL CHEMICAL CONTAINERS ARE LABELLED.
INGESTION Remove any material from the mouth of victim If material has been swallowed then give copious amounts of water, and DO NOT induce vomiting Take patient to Doctor or medical authority - take the MSDS or label with you. MAKE SURE ALL CHEMICAL CONTAINERS ARE LABELLED.

15 SPILL CONTROL Notify your supervisor
Remove any unnecessary personnel from area, especially if dangers exist Remove incompatible materials from area Refer to product MSDS. Contain large liquid spills so to not enter stormwater drains. For powders, scoop up excessive amounts.

16 SPILL CONTROL cont’d For liquids absorb excess in suitable absorbent material such as sand, sawdust, kitty litter etc. Rinse small spills of powder or liquid to effluent drains NOT the stormwater drains Use a neutraliser only if recommended on the label or MSDS.
