4 4 Turnover 80% of the turnover that occurs within the first six months of employment is because of a poor fit for the job. The employee lacks either the knowledge, skills, abilities and/or the motivation to do the work. This type of turnover is most easily reduced by improving the selection process. 5 5 Turnover Turnover that occurs after twelve to eighteen months can point to problems with career progression. Turnover under certain managers in certain departments should be suspect.
