3 What did the British government request from the colonies? Why? The British government requested that the colonists pay some of the costs that developed from having to station more troops along the frontier for their protection.

Colonies exported tobacco, sugar, and ship masts to Britain while Britain imported manufactured goods exclusively from Britain

9 What did the Navigation Law of 1650 say? The Navigation Law of 1650 said that all commerce flowing to or from the colonies had to be transported by British vessels All European goods destined for America had to go to Britain first so that they could collect the taxes on the goods.

11 What kind of shortage did the British often inflict upon the colonies? Explain how and why this occurred: Colonists usually bought more from Britain than they sold which resulted in a currency shortage. Many colonies had to issue their own money which Parliament prohibited because it depreciated the value of British money.
