It is predominantly a classifieds website that offers sections for viewers to converse with other users, reconnect with people, and research events happening near them. It is known for its free give-aways for the college bound and those who are not financially sound. It has discussion forums based on popular topics, such as celebrity news, computers, crafts, travel, etc. It allows local trades to promote themselves to gain employment, whether it is temporary or permanent. It also allows the user to upload their resumes in hopes of landing their dream job. The website is categorized by region, so the results will be conducive to you; the region separation will be sure that you are not shopping for a used car in Montana when you need to shop in Ohio. Craigslist is mostly used for job searches and to sell unwanted items. It also provides entertainment value with the "Missed Connections" section; although it is meant to be taken seriously, one cannot help but laugh at some of the postings and wonder if it is a joke. Craigslist is created to assist the user to get a step closer towards their goal, whether it is finding a cheap used car or gaining employment. It separates the results that are not within their area, and narrows down the results to make it easier for the user. The website also provides online safety tips for users posting on Craigslist to assure that they are not falling victim to a scam or worse. The user has the option to change the region search so they may look in other states, even countries, for whatever it is that they are looking for.
