2. The design and build of tooling for today's automotive welding applications represents a complex and challenging undertaking. Each customer application requires careful consideration of a multitude of variables to ensure that the end product results in reliable, robust tools that can produce dimensionally capable welded assemblies. This presentation will demonstrate a functional approach to designing for automated welding processes by addressing solutions for a variety of welding processes, part volumes and clamping options. It will also touch on more advanced topics related to sensing methods for component parts and clamping as well as how to deal with requirements for fixture motion and tooling changeover.
