2 About HPECHU Serves the counties of Hastings, Prince Edward and Quinte West. Including Belleville. Offices in Trenton, Picton, Madoc, Bancroft and the head office is right here in Belleville. Provides dozens of programs and services, along with reliable health information to a population of approximately 150,000 people in the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties http://forms.hpechu.on.ca/web/

3 About HPECHU cont. Mission The HPECHU’s mission is to give the people of the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties the resources and knowledgeable experts that will help them protect themselves from diseases and different injuries They provide a online database as well, so that adults and teens can look up different ways to prevent the spread of diseases, and to prevent injury.

5 Why is it Important? The HPECHU gives people the ability to find clinics that can help with medical problems they may be facing, along with help clinics such as: quitting smoking and sexual health If the HPECHU was not in effect, the residents of all the counties that it provides too would not have a reliable source, near by to them, to which they can get health and safety tips. Parents can also get information on different topics involving their children and themselves.

6 Funding The HPECHU is funded by the Ontario Provincial Government. The provincial government also funds some of the vaccines that the HPECHU gives out to the residents of the counties.

7 Last Time in the News The Belleville Intelligencer ran a story that mentioned the HPECHU wherein a visitor to the Prince Edward County was diagnosed with West Nile The story also mentions how the HPECHU found mosquitos in Belleville that are West Nile Positive, but say that the risk is minimal.
