What is the Pembina Trails Portal System? Email access for students and teachers (the school division does not accept Hotmail or Yahoo! Accounts) from anywhere in the world

Why use the Pembina Trails portal system? Eliminates the need for disks or flash drives when sending work on the computer from home to school or school to home Can send assignments directly to teachers to portal address or Pembina Trails email address Teachers can send assignments directly to students or post assignments for student access No special software needed at home to access email Can be used to create student and/or teacher web pages, portfolios

What do you need to operate the portal system? A computer with Internet access A user name and password supplied by the Pembina Trails School Division (username is usually first initial and last name; students’ usernames end with the school abbreviation (e.g..ac for Acadia) and the teachers’ usernames end with.ptsd)

How do I get the username of fellow students and teachers? You can only get someone’s username (mail address) by asking them Share your address with only those friends you want to communicate with

How does the portal system work? Messages can be composed, sent or received just like regular email Work can be saved in My Documents either at home or school and sent as an attachment to home or school

Login Screen Enter : Username and Password

Portal Interface Click on Web Mail or just point browser to:

Adding Messages Click on New Message Note: The server at school may try to block this site; it this happens, click on the pop-up bar and Select “Always Allow Pop-ups from this site.”

Composing Messages Type in : 1. Username of the person you want to send mail to (this could be Yourself) and add @cyberschools.ca 2. Subject 3. Message Click Send

Retrieving Mail Click Get Mail

Retrieving Mail or Messages Retrieve mail by clicking on Subject

Here’s my message, now what? You can Reply to the message, Forward it to someone else or Delete it

To delete several message at once: Go to Inbox Check off Select by clicking Click Delete

Adding Attachments After clicking on New Message and adding username, subject and message, Select Attach

Finding and Attaching Files Click Browse to find your file in My Documents. Open file. Click Add (You can add as many files as you want. Click Attach

Sending Attachments Click Send

Opening Attachments After getting mail, click on Subject

Opening the Attachment Click on Attachments

Open or Save File to My Documents Click Open or Save

Log Out A very important step So no one else can use your email! Click Log Out
