Today in class we will be talking about the water cycle. Please be prepared with science journal to answer questions to be turned in at the end of class!

2. Water Cycle What is the water cycle?
There are four main parts to the earths water cycle!
-Evaporation
-Condensation
-Precipitation
-Collection
After looking at this chart can you tell me what evaporation is? Take two minutes and please write down what you think evaporation is in your science journal.

4. EVAPORATION: IS WHEN THE EARTH’S WATER IN RIVERS, LAKES AND OCEANS TURNS INTO VAPOR OR STEAM. THE VAPOR LEAVES THE RIVER OR LAKE AND GOES UP INTO THE AIR

7. CONDENSATION
CONDENSATION OCCURS WHEN THE WATER VAPOR IN THE AIR GETS COLD AND TURNS BACK INTO LIQUID AND TURNS INTO CLOUDS.
IN YOUR SCIENCE JOURNAL PLEASE TAKE TWO MINUTES TO ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION:
WHAT HAPPENS TO A GLASS IF YOU LEAVE WATER IN IT ON A COLD DAY?

8. LETS REVIEW; THERE ARE FOUR PARTS OF THE WATER CYCLE
LETS REVIEW; THERE ARE FOUR PARTS OF THE WATER CYCLE. WE HAVE LEARNED ABOUT TWO: EVAPORATION AND CONDENSATION. WHAT HAPPENS TO THE WATER AFTER IT TURNS INTO CLOUDS? (Please write answer in science journal, take two minutes)

9. PRECIPITATION

10. Precipitation: occurs after the water vapor collects in the air so much that the air can not hold any more condensation. The clouds release the water back to earth. Now that we know what condensation out take two minutes and write four different kinds of precipitation that can occur. (Hint: think about the different seasons)

11. Who can tell me what is the last stage in the water cycle?

12. Collection
Collection occurs after there is precipitation, the water gathers back on the earths surface. Some examples of collection would be the ocean or a lake.

13. Does the water cycle only occur once?
Please end the assignment by drawing me your own version of a water cycle
