12 Review: Parts of Speech  Noun  names a person, place, thing or idea  Verb  express an action or state of being  Adjective  modifies a noun or a pronoun and answers these questions: which? what kind of? how many? 12

13 Poetry Council Steps  First Reading: Visualization  Second Reading: Noun  Third Reading: Verb  Fourth Reading: Adjective After each reading you will write for 10 minutes on the word that you identified in the poem. This does not have to be related to the poem but rather how you connect to that word or experience. 13

14 Extension Activities  Council:  Dedications  Icebreaker  Speed rounds in response to poem (one word only)  noun  verb  adjective  Response round: recall of one connection.  Witness round: Something heard  Mood-mover (if needed)  Closing appropriate for group. 14
